The Department of Biomedical Engineering educates its students to be significant contributors in health care, research and development in biomedicine and bioengineering. The curriculum links technical fundamentals in science, engineering and the life sciences with team building, societal and ethical issues, and communication and leadership skills. Our students receive personalized attention as they work side by side with physician-scientists on cutting-edge research at the VCU Medical Center, their training ground for entry into the nation’s fastest-growing occupation.
The department offers a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering.
