VCU-IIT Kharagpur Summer Research Program

Welcome to the Virginia Commonwealth University – India Institute of Technology Kharagpur Summer Research Program at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Engineering. This program has been developed to promote the exchange of students, ideas, and cooperative research opportunities among the faculty of the India Institute of Technology – Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Engineering (VCUSoE). Students from IIT-KGP will be chosen to participate in cutting-edge research projects at VCUSoE during the upcoming summer session.

Participants will travel to Richmond, Virginia in May and work with world renowned researchers for seven weeks. Students will be chosen to work on projects that best fit their interest and technical skills. Projects will be from Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Life Science Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Students will be exposed to state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology. This experience will raise student interest and awareness in international science and engineering issues and give the selected students an opportunity to live, study, and work in another culture.

Students selected will receive a stipend that will cover travel expenses and salary. Along with working in the research laboratories in the School of Engineering, students will stay in university housing and participate in outings and trips to near-by attractions.

The deadline to apply for the 2009 Summer Research Program has passed. Applications for the 2009 program are no longer being accepted.

Information about the 2010 Summer Research Program will be made available in October 2009.
